Soma kitties??
« on: Friday 15 September 2017, 07:17 pm »
I bought these from someone in The Netherlands and the only info I can find online is cropped photos (of other people's photos) on pinterest saying that they are made by Soma in 1984. I can't find anything to confirm this.

I have also seen green ones. The adults all have three butterflies on both hips and the smaller ones have no symbols. They are marked 'made in china' on one foot - back right on the adults and front right on the small baby kitty. Their heads turn.

Thank you  ;D  Well, it's not like I am going to make such an indept page like you did for "Little Pretties" from Mattel (really awesomely done!  I love spending time there and reading up on them and watching your very gorgeous pictures) but I will also not say 'no' if you ever have time and take those pics  ;)

BTW, I am very curious to whether I am right or not but I have a pink set of these darling coming my way and if I only go by the picture of the seller, then the butterflies on the mother cat aren't blue like with yours but dark purple.  I am curious whether there is also going to be a variation then in the end regarding the color of the butterfly symbol on the hips  ;D  So exciting  :)

Ooooh, that will be interesting! Please post a pic, I'd love to see. I wish there was more info out about these. I would love to see an advertisement featuring them or something. I love the old vintage toy ads. :)

I know what you mean.  It is always a blast to find old toy books and go through them  :)  Somehow the toys of these days just don't hold the same attraction to me  :'(  Like for instance MLP, whilst it is fun that it is still around and has grown so much, I still can't help but love the G1's the most  ;D

Not sure though if Soma ever did much advertising for their toys in toy books.  I think they pretty much flew under the radar over here so to speak and perhaps also in other countries?

When they arrive, I'll see whether I am right and take a pic.  But be warned, I am nowhere as good in taking gorgeous pictures as you are  ;D

Thanks  ;D  I already took a pic and they look awesome.  Mine still haven't arrived  :'(  I think they are having a blast somewhere in their postal package and don't want the party to end by arriving on my doorstep  ;D  (not that I have currently time for my site but I do hope they have arrived by winter when things settle back down a bit and I hopefully can work anew on my site  :))

Quickly took a few pics before the battery of my camera ran out.

You can see the three different colors of butterfly hip beautymarks here: https://www.pinterest.com/faoabt/soma-kitties/

know.  I thought perhaps it was due to the lightning in your pics but I guess not then  ;D  Who knows ... perhaps the bright colors is an extra serie and is there also a bright yellow, blue and green one  ;) ???
