AG Bear?
« on: Thursday 13 May 2010, 02:38 pm »
I had this white stuffed talking bear as a child and LOVED him but I only have found 1 on Ebay...is he that rare? I wish I still had him and all my other loved toys :( Now, I have to start getting all my toys from scratch and its not easy!! Oh and BTW my name is Julie and I am 33 and just started my toy collection about 6 mths ago...its fun but hard...lol!

A lot of the time it's not actually that a toy is really rare but it might be a toy no one lists because they don't think people will buy it so they throw it away *gasp* or they donate it. Also a lot of the time you need to creatively search or just search heaps and heaps of listings - what you are using as a search might not be what someone is listing the toy as. You can also advertise on different toy collecting sites to try and find a replacement which may also end up being cheaper than what you can find on ebay.

Hi Julie, I too had an AG Bear that I adored as a child, though mine was the light tan one with the red shirt.  I agree with mouse that people may not realize it's not just any old teddy bear and donate it, as I've found a tan one like my childhood AG at a thrift store, as well as 2 of the darker brown AGs with blue shirts and a Grandpa AG, so definitely keep an eye out at thrift stores and the like.  While they do come up on eBay from time to time, I'm thinking the white one you're looking for may be a harder-to-find color because personally I've seen that one less often than the tan and darker brown ones.  It's also difficult to find them with a working voicebox and their shirt...of the ones I've found, only the Grandpa and one other had their voicebox.

Best of luck in getting one, and in replacing your childhood toy collection!
