Help me identify this 1970s Stuffed Dog
« on: Wednesday 13 February 2019, 10:15 pm »
Had him when I was very young, and would love to have him again!  Used to call him "Norman" but no idea if that was his official name.  Might be an Animal Fair dog, but none of the standard/popular ones.  This is a picture from when I had him.  Date of the photo is probably 1973-1974.

This plush looks a lot like yours.
Not much information on that one too, I'm afraid.

Plush fairground toys are usually a copy of a toy or character that is popular at the time.
Often the companies didn't give these toys a name. Just an ordering number.
Your dog looks like a simplified Merrythought hound dog head on a Knickerbocker teddy bear body.
He also reminds me of Sweep from The Sooty Show.

His given name was Norman. I'm sure he came from Sears, JC Penny, or Montgomery Ward, because I would have picked him out from one of the Christmas catalogs. I still have mine! How do you put a picture on here?
