[ID: Maxie] Hair Growing Doll, Similar to Barbie.
« on: Wednesday 23 June 2010, 05:58 pm »
I just remembered this doll I had as a child.

She was similar to barbie size but a bit bigger.

Blondish long hair wearing a hot pink dress (no pattern on the dress) and some kind of silver-ish frill (?).

What was unique about her was that she had a large patch of hair in the middle of her head that you could pull and it would get longer! That one patch of hair would become longer then the rest of her hair.

I can't remember how I would get the hair back in, but there was a way.

I may still have her, I'll have to take a look.

This was around 1990-1995.

Thanks!

Cool doll but no, this doll was just a bit bigger then Barbie and had more of the look of a Barbie. More adult type features with breasts.

No, I live in Alberta Canada and have never known anyone from the UK so it couldn't have been sent to me. I don't recall where I got it.

I had a doll called Kirsty with long dark blonde/brown hair and she had a section of her hair which grew. You pulled this section up out of a pink patterned 'hole' on the top of her head, then pressed a section on her back and the hair got sucked back in (made a lot of noise, too!) is this similar to the one you mean?

yes but i dont recall the "pink pattern" around the hole on her head. And I dont recall the "section on her back" for the hair to get back in. I do believe her hair was dirty blonde/light brown though. This could be the right doll I just dont remember those details. Do you have a picture of this doll?

No, sorry I don't have a picture. I lost that doll many years ago. I can remember a few more details though:

'Kirsty' came wearing a cropped blue striped jacket and a dress that had the same stripes at the bottom, but was a white vest on top. (very smart, actually!)

She also came with hair accessories.

She had dimples in her cheeks.

Her arms were bent in an 'L' shape (if you get what I mean?) Bent at the elbow.

Her hair was quite course (not very soft like a lot of Barbies').

I hope this helps! I'd love for someone to have a picture of her. I really wish I hadn't lost mine, she was in great condition.

Might it have been a Maxi doll? I had one when I was a kid and I think I remember them being a bit larger than a Barbie. They had one that had growing hair. Check it out here:
