Does anyone know what toy this is? Name of the figure? Name of the origin?

On the back I can read that it is by the Mego company from 1974 . there are a few places on the net that have more in formation on the mego company. It could also be a fake mego too.

OMG! I recognize that face....looks like an actor. But I dont know who. I'm guessing the action figure is from a movie or tv show.

Yeah, my first instinct was Dukes of Hazzard, but I looked it up and it wasn't quite right.

Well I am German so I'm not skillful in american TV Shows but I also have the feeling that I saw this face on a vintage TV add or something before.

I'm pretty sure it is a real mego toy...I was searching with this key word and found a similar figure but with real blonde hair.

I looked closely at the various head mold of the Mego figures at the Mego Museum website, and it looks like the figure you have there is Pa Walton.   They only have on pic of Pa, so I can't say for sure, but none of the other figures match up with that face, and what I can see of Pa's it looks like the same smile (more like smirk, lol), just a different angle:

http://www.megomuseum.com/teevee/walpop.html

And this Ebay auction with Pa Walton looks like the Mego figure you have:

http://cgi.ebay.com/Waltons-Pa-Walton-Mego-1974-/180203793447?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item29f4fbac27

I can't find any info on whether the head mold was used on other Mego figures, so for now, I would say it is probably Pa Walton.

Cannot believe that he's a Walton :)

You are very welcome, Missesgrim.  :)

And, I third the "it's Thor" comments on the second figure posted.  Mego didn't shy away from giving the long-haired male figures brush-able hair, lol!

Haha, memegans, maybe that is what old Pa's smirk is about!
