Update working pics! Mystery Generic Pound Puppy mid 80's
« on: Wednesday 23 February 2011, 04:02 pm »
Hello! This P-Pup is my childhood LOVE.  Have you ever seen him before?

I have a few pics of my old guy, but he is so beat up! It's really hard to tell what he used to look like.

Basically he is a generic pound puppy, similar in size to the standard puppies... maybe 12 inches long? The big difference, is that mine is in more of a sitting position, with all four paws straight out. or like as if he could almost stand up on four legs, but his big dog head makes him fall foreward. He isn't as floppy as the real ones, but more stuffed and structured. The two I have are from K.B. Toy store in Modesto, ca, around 1985. Besides their different shape, they have very similar eyes, but mine did not have coloured lids and possibly not lids at all. They are Very similar fabric, my two were both two-toned, just like many real puppies. They had a black oval nose and the ears are darted to make them wrinkle. I would LOVE if you recognize Pee Pup and can give me any info on him. Thank you soo much!

My sister has one as well, in better shape. Probably purchased a few years later. She is dark blueish grey with black ears and patches. I'll try to borrow her to post more pics.

For the record... and this is embarrassing... Pee Pup used to be white!

-takes a paintbrush and paints eye pupils back in Pee Pup's eyes* All better!

No worries about him being dirty and worn -- you should see the pikachu toy I got when I was a kid! He's now a greyish cream color... when I got him he was bright yellow.

Haha, thanks, Kokiri! Your sweet <3

Picachu and Pee Pup can hang out together - they won't be self-conscious!

He's been through too many surgeries to count, and the worst blow to his health was when my puppy found him! I think she was jealous!

My stuff pikachu is dingy too and he's had a few washes. The eyes also get rubbed off. I draw them on with a white gel pen.

He looks a lot like the "At Play" Pound Puppies on this page... http://www.ghostofthedoll.co.uk/Toys_PoundPuppies_Hornby.htm

Good luck ID'ing him! I'll keep my eyes open for ones like him.

MsTwilight, you're right! I hadn't seen those guys. I think my Pup is definitely a knockoff of them specifically, now that I have.

Thank you!
